about the event

make your own ceramic vase

join us for 2.5 hours full of crafty chat, inspiration & fun as I guide you through making your own ceramic vase, just in time for spring!

meet new people, create with your hands & feel inspired

how it works:

  • you will get a block of ~1kg clay

  • I will take you through the steps to make your own ceramic vase, perfect for your spring bouquets

  • you will have two options for the night, you can either:

    • spend the entire time making your vase, adding bits and pieces to it & choose a top glaze colour from test tiles which I will glaze your piece with; or

    • spend half the session making your vase & the second half painting with underglaze

  • I will take your handmade beauty & the ceramic fairies will finish your piece off for you (kiln firing & top glazing)

  • the vase will be fired & available for collection or shipping (for a small fee) approximately 4-6 weeks after the workshop depending on kiln wait times

  • it will be food safe, dishwasher friendly & a magnificent addition to your handmade collection (or the start of one!)

  • all materials are provided, all you need to bring is yourself!

what you will get to go home with:

  • your own handmade & hand painted ceramic vase (after it has been fired)!

  • a night of stimulating conversation

  • new connections & friendships

  • a sense of belonging to a new community

some notes on the glazing:

  • if you choose option 2, we will be using underglaze to paint the vases

  • underglazes are designed for decorative painting only (not covering the entire vase in one colour), so challenge your creativity to come up with a pattern or design that you want to do!

  • I will have lots of inspiration & ideas for you to look through

  • underglazes will look different once they've worked their magic in the kiln, so test tiles are provided as your guide when choosing your colour palette

everyone of all abilities is welcome, however you must be over 16 to attend <3

important things to note:

I do my absolute best to guide you through the steps of making the vase & taking care of them throughout the drying and firing process. It is extremely rare, however there is a small chance that cracks may appear in your finished piece. The best way to avoid this is to listen to the steps carefully, make your piece with care and spend a time during the event smoothing over any cracks that appear and sponging down your piece well before glazing. How your vase looks when you finish making it is how it will dry and look after firing, so do your best to smooth it out and remove any cracks or bumps that you don't want in the final piece!

I use a kiln service to fire your pieces, as I don't have my own kiln just yet! This can mean that sometimes the pieces take a bit longer to be fired depending on wait times. Your piece is completely safe the entrie time, it will simply just be waiting patiently in the queue. The usual wait time is 4-6 weeks however, this can vary. You will be notified as soon as your piece is ready <3

absolutely everyone is welcome at studio eve however, you must be 18 years or older attend
