Help women and children in Tanzania break the poverty cycle
Tupendane Africa Foundation are a non for profit organisation, who work to change the lives of women and children in Tanzania, Africa.
Women from disadvantaged backgrounds are welcomed to Tupendane, to spend 1 year learning essential skills such as English, Mathematics, Business, Health Care and Finance, as well as specialise in either hair braiding or tailoring. The goal is that after 1 year at Tupendane, the women are able to find employment or start their own businesses, breaking the poverty cycle.
On top of this, Tupendane also offer the following to the local community through donations and sponsorships:
-
Free childcare to families in need, allowing the mothers to find employment.
-
Community outreach - taking bags of essential supplies to families in need identified by the local social worker.
-
School outreach - providing menstural health education and sanitary pads for girls, as well as stationary supplies for children in need.
Tupendane do incredible work and I am so happy to be supporting them through our crafty events.

Tupendane Africa Foundation

In 2025 I had the absolute privilege of spending 2 weeks volunteering at Tupendane Africa Foundation. I struggle to put into words the impact this experience had on me and the absolute awe I felt for every single woman I met, including the founder herself, Roslyn. The women of Tupendane are endlessly determined, creative and inspiring.
Women are disadvantaged in every society, but particularly in developing countries. I believe that women deserve the same opportunity as men, the right to receive an education, the ability to be financially independent and the choice of what they want to do with their lives.
Our crafty events have attracted the most amazing group of women who inspire me each week, just like the women at Tupendane. At Studio Eve, my main goal is to bring people together, inspire them to be creative and foster an environment where everyone feels like they are a part of something. I want my business, no matter how small or big, to contribute to making a difference, so it feels fitting to partner with Tupendane and give my community the chance to help change the lives of women and children on the other side of the world.
All profits from the BYO Craft & Chat events will be going straight to the Tupendane Africa Foundation, to help end the poverty cycle for women and children in Arusha, Tanzania. The money we raise will be used to:
-
Pay for women to be able to attend the classes at Tupendne, by covering the costs of education materials, educator wages and rent.
-
Pay for menstural education outreach and sanitary pads for girls.
-
Pay for childcare of women in need, so they can find employment and become financially independent.
